The rarest Enneagram type is Type Five, also known as the Pioneer or the Investigator. Type Fives are innovative individuals known for their motivation to learn more about the world, obtain new skills, and become experts in their field so they can be self-sufficient.

Fours tend to over-identify as people who are more flawed than others. They undervalue the positive aspects of their personality and idealize the positive traits in other people. At their best, Fours are extremely creative, compassionate and self-aware. At their worst they can be self-victimizing and self-destructive.

Some might say Enneagram Type Eight, the Challenger, is the hardest Enneagram type to love. At their average levels, the Challenger can be forceful and aggressive. They assert control over themselves and others. They will push even harder whenever they feel someone is trying to hold them back.

In states of stress, Nines take on the characteristics of an unhealthy and anxious Type Six. Fearing conflict and disruption in their relationships, complacent Nines become disengaged and stubborn towards others. When stress progresses, they become neglectful and disassociate from those who seem to be causing conflict.
